It’s a beautiful morning at Chedworth and the surrounding Cotswolds are looking wonderful. We’re waiting for scaffolding which will provide a protective cover over the corridor but it probably won’t arrive until next week. We can’t work on the tarmac without the cover so we’ll start removing gravel in these rooms instead:
Chedworth RevealedIn July 2010 we revealed and protected mosaics at Chedworth Roman Villa. This was part of a major project to improve visitor access and conservation of the historic fabric. We had a wonderful time and met visitors from all over the world. It was fabulous to share our work and talk about it on-site.
- The excavation and conservation work was captured by this blog as it happened. The 2010 blog is no longer maintained but will still be available as an archive and on-line resource.
- The new cover buildings will be complete in 2012. We’ll be back then to finish the excavations and reveal the full 30m of corridor mosaic!
